Virtual interview with our director about the virtual open studios

We would like to thank our residency programme funders KfW Stiftung, Triangle Network, and Konstnärsnämnden (Swedish Arts Grants Committee) Iaspis programme. for their flexibility and support throughout this process.

The precautions and restrictions put in place by governments around the world to curb the spread of the Coronavirus has had an immense impact on the Bag Factory's operations and residency programme. Due to travel restrictions, our visiting artists anxiously returned to their home countries before borders closed and they are continuing their residencies remotely.

Similarly, while the Bag Factory is closed during the national lockdown, our studio artists are researching and producing work from the confines of their home.

Also, catch our online exhibition Covert Bioscope, featuring video works by Phumulani Ntuli, Olivia Botha, Neville Starling, Malebona Maphutse and Helena Uambembe.
