‘TOWARDS A CITY’ projects needs and desires – to make constructive visual conversations between cities across the continent, to localize art as a site of knowledge linked to written and spoken knowledge pointing to increasingly decolonial, polycentric views of our multiple urban realities, to devise ways to communicate photography [and the knowledges it speaks of] through curatorial publishing and archival practices.”

The digital publication ‘TOWARDS A CITY: relations in inner-city Johannesburg and Luanda’ was produced by Tila Likunzi (Angola) during a 3-month curatorial residency at the Bag Factory from 27 Feb – 26 May 2021.

Tila’s residency was part of Art Connection Africa, a cooperation of KfW Stiftung and Triangle Network to foster visual art exchanges, capacity building and informal learning activities within Sub-Sahara Africa.
